I feel guilty as h***!

I would be beating myself up over that too ... but don't. We all forget things and make mistakes.

Two nights ago I was going to sleep and literally sat up in bed completely panicked as I realized that I hadn't asked my daughter if she'd shut the windows on the chicken coop when she locked it up. We are adding onto our chicken coop and the new windows don't have the hardware cloth over them yet. I went in, woke her and asked ... she hadn't shut the windows! We immediately went out and shut them. Thankfully all was well.

I hope you are able to enjoy your chickens after this terrible loss.

Yeah, the hardware cloth is great stuff! All of my coop windows have it but it doesn't do any good if the door is open! I am feeling a little better now, thanks everyone! I'll still keep the trap there and keep trying though!
