The coop is 8 foot tall in front...7 in the back....the floor space is 8 x 7.5....Storey's guide for turkeys gives an estimate on needed space...mine will (if I kept all 12) have 5 square foot each.I really want to keep only 7. It states anywhere from 3-5 for different situations..mine will be getting a good sized run as well.My plan is to keep 2 Narr toms (one for insurance in case something happens to the other) and 4-5 hens(if I have them)...I am going to try to breed the BS as well....right now I have only 4 and I think 3 are toms so I'll start with just a pair.I am going to create a smaller area and housing for the 2nd breed...I think....if DH doesn't kill me first for all the coops he's built in the last year and a half...let's see...the laying flock of chickens coop, the meat bird coop and run...the duck hut and run...the bantam coop...the turkey coop....and I still need a goose hut!

Thanks for the info! gonna copy/paste it to a word document and save the picture of your coop just in case he decides he needs a reference.

You all did a mighty fine job there!!! It looks awesome. And I love the brooder. It's so roomy. You should be very proud of what you all did. Your babies are beautiful. Keep up the good work!

Thank you...my DH and I do all the work ourselves(which is why NOTHING is ever perfectly aligned

) Here are the pics I took tonight after we got the roosts in and the other door on....now to tar, shingle and paint...and build the run

With the second door...With 2 doors that open in front it should be easy cleaning.

We built the roosts straight across versus a ladder for easier cleaning of the floor. There are three rows of roosting space that are spaced 21 inches apart. As you can see, someone is already trying it out

Thanks Kuntrygirl! I admire your set up as well! I wouldn't say we are proud of our work,we tend to think everyone will notice all the flaws;)...but we are happy with our birds having enough space and being content

Well thank you.

Let me say this, don't ever worry about what people say or if they will notice "flaws' as you call it. As long as your set up is safe and secure (and it is) and your babies are happy, that is all that matters. People who tend to criticize and notice "flaws" don't have anything better to do. I believe that most of us here are here to learn, share ideas and to help others. We as backyard flock owners will always look back at what we have built and think of ways that we could have build it a better way. Gosh knows, I have a LONG LIST of "I should have done this" in my head but I don't lose sleep over it.

You have inspired me to get started on a turkey coop. All I have are chicken coops. I want a turkey coop like you have.

If you don't want to be proud of your work, then I am proud of what you all worked so hard to do.
