I've been having trouble with my ducks digging muddy holes in the yard. Namely wherever our temporary pen is, right next to the duck pool. So I spent some time today just watching them. I moved their area today and as I was moving some boards on the wet, saturated ground there were tons of worms at the surface. The ducks raced over and scooped up the worms. In the process digging downward, the same as when they are digging their holes. I continued watching and discovered that whenever they get a worm out of the mud they stop and scoop it up into their mouths and eat them. Kinda like slurping spaghetti. So the mud holes are actually worm factories. Because all the poop attracts the worms. So the more you poop, the more worms you get, the more worms you get, the more you poop. It's a symbiotic circle. Each existing on the other. Amazing....
