The guys finally made me a growing pen/coop for my half grown chickens! It is not really a coop ... just a room in an old barn but hey "IT WORKS!" Let me know what you think! I have 30 chicks in there right now.

You have a colorful flock!

It's cool that you have the old farm buildings on your property to work with. It's probably really awesome to see history like that around your place.

They all look happy & healthy!

Two things you might consider changing - it looks like you are using hay as bedding; that's not a good idea, as they can eat it and become impacted from it. Many folks on here (me included) have lost chickens to crop impaction due to eating hay. The strands are really long, and just seem to wrap around and form into a big clump, and then they are unable to pass through the crop. Wood shavings or pelleted pine bedding is probably the very safest bedding to use. Also, you might think about cutting off the sharp looking ends of off the roost boards, as I can see a potential issue if they try to fly up from the side...don't want them impaling themselves on the boards or anything.

Other than that, it's a right fine chicken area!

We added that so they could have a breez!
Do you think one of those big bags of shavings would cover the whole pen?
Any ideas to keep them from getting bored?
