I have 10 hens, 3 RIR, 3 Plymouth Barred Rocks, 2 Speckled Sussex, and 2 Golden Comets. Went out to let them out off the coop this morning and a RIR comes out running holding half an egg shell. I look in further and find a 2nd that has its side busted out. Just got home from SeaWorld, went out and found a 3rd egg in the run perfectly intact. I’m thinking they may be from the Barred Rocks, I’ve heard they can lay around 18 weeks and they’re all 21 weeks come Monday. So I guess I really really need to finish building the nest box and mount it tomorrow. It’s so eggciting. They’re still small but the shells have been perfect.

Thanks everyone. Got 3 more today, all intact. Is the speckled one normal? I don’t think I’ve ever seen an egg like that lol.

One of my Barred Rocks lays an egg like that. 20190221_052914.jpg . It's delicious. They lay different shapes and shades. GC
