Yep, I actually did it!! Or, rather, I finished the fourth draft.

The first three drafts were in short story form, but I think about ten months ago I took the plunge and started converting it into an upper-middle grade novel.

I didn't quite make my word goal of 30,000 words, I think that I needed like 1,500 more, but all in all, I'm proud of myself.
It's in the fractured fairytale genre, as a rewrite of Cinderella. Right now the title is Cinderella Squared, but that is subject to change.

I think I've gone through like four titles already...

It started out as a creative writing class assignment, in which we were to write the story of Cinderella from the POV of the stable boy who taught her to dance. I managed to make that work, although with some difficulty. How many lowly stable hands know how to dance?

Ironically, the solution I came up with was the one everybody else in the class came up with. But it still wasn't fitting, so I twisted it into a bunch of knots and the final product was the story of the person who found Cinderella for the prince.
Later I can revise... For now, I'm going to throw a huge party with cake and balloons and a monkey!!

Have I inspired you?

Thanks everybody.... Once I manage to get something or other published, BYCers get signed copies.

Or maybe a discount... I don't wanna end up signing 100s of books.
