I finnally got a Roomba!!!

I have had a Roomba "Robbie" for a few years now. Just replaced the battery. LOVE HIM!!!!!! He does the sunroom every day. See, my babies split their time between inside in rabbit hutches and outside in their coop and run. In the colder weather, they stay inside and mostly at night. The sunroom is not heated but is a lot warmer than being outside. I will keep them out when the weather is milder. We have 3 silkies and 1 WC Polish Bantam. Love my pets.

Anyway... back to "Robbie"... again LOVE HIM... and just got a Scuba "Scoobie" who will now WASH the sunroom floor. I ran him yesterday for the first time and couldn't believe how well he did. He even went UNDER the furniture.

Keep in mind that he is ROUND and has a little trouble with corners, but did a beautiful job on my distressed white pine Pergo floor. He meets the kitchen next.

I was skeptical... but no longer.

It works great.

I have two cats but when I empty the thing at the end of the day you'd think I have 6.

It's very important, though, to REMOVE the sweepers to get the hair out of the bearings on each end. I forgot about it for a few weeks and two days ago it was wandering around making a strange clunking noise. The hair had built up on the ends of the brushes and it couldn't spin right. It took a few minutes to pick it out with a pointy thing, but it's really easy if you keep up with it every week or so.

I did have one huge mess with it....One of the catz ralphed on the floor and the ruumba proceeded to smear it all over the place

and every once in a while I'll leave something in the floor and it will knock it over and drag it all over the house.
If nothing it reminds me to pick up after myself and not leave things lying around.

The battery pack on my Roomba just died.

I'm going to buy some cells on eBay and rebuild it myself. Batteries plus wanted $67 to rebuild it and I can do it for around $30.

I guess it's time for a little Roomba hacking!

Do you love it? I've heard mixed reviews.

(sorry, I'm lazy and skipped from the first page to answering, so you might have already been gushing or grump about it)

I've wanted one but the price has put me off. I don't mind vaccuuming that much to be honest. Am I the only one amused by sucking up dirt with the vacuum? oh my.
