I was referred to them by a guy the other day and checked them out today. They sell 16%protein layer crumbles for a little over $11 for a 50 lb bag. That will save me almost $2/bag.

It's a small operation without a lot of overhead. The owner shook my hand when I went in and showed me around. I told him I sell chicks and eggs and he told me to put a sign together and he would hang it up in his store.

I love doing business with people like this. I would never have found it if I didn't get it word of mouth.

Yeah when I have a chance to, I try to buy from locals instead of corporations. Situations like this are especially nice because the cost is so much lower. The guy even said if they aren't there to give them a call and they would come open up so I could get what I need.

Here in Greenwood, I go to the Greenwood Co-op, a Southern States dealer. There is just something "good old days" about buying farming supplies at a place that is not all bright lights, tile floors and salespersons that don't have a clue about what I am talking about.

I am greeted at the door by smiling, friendly people. I only showed them one time how I want the feed loaded in my car. (I really need a truck.) And if I need a feed that they don't usually carry, all I have to do is ask and they order it for me !

AND the biggest plus, every bag of feed I buy is at least $2 cheaper than at TSC !!!

Wish I could find a deal like that...

Custom made feed here will run me $25.00 for a 50 lb bag... ouch. - of course, it is all organic and when compared to Purina, its really not that bad I suppose....

Hmm.....now you got me wondering if we have any Amish in our area that sell their own feed.

That's fantastic! I love little stores like that too, especially when the owner himself seems to be genuinely interested in satisfying his customers.

Hey Buster, you just reminded me that my feed store is one of those small helpful places where the people who own it are local.

Same goes where I get my horse feed from.
