I found a way to stop night predator attacks!

I've had wire pulled loose and chickens killed twice but now I've caught and stopped 2 night raids.
I installed a baby monitor in my coop. The first night a ruckus woke me and I shot a large stray dog. Last night I could hear the tale-tale sounds of the wire being chewed, I now have a coyote tail hanging near the coop.
This seems to be what I needed.

Wahhooooooo!

Ya, baby moniters work great. I have one in my upstairs bedroom. The other part is sticking out the kitchen window which is just outside of my chicken house. Can hear the rain fall down even. lol

I think the baby monitor only showed you just how bad of a predator problem you really have. Someday, you won't be around to hear it. It is only a matter of time.

I suggest more secure fencing and/or a livestock guardian dog.

YUP!, I've only had chickens a few months but I've always been the one people call to trap predators so I've gone to work on them. I have 22 traps set this evening I'm installing a electric fence. I did catch the neighbors cat.....twice so far:lol: but it can't get to them.

I gave up trying to eradicate all the predators in my area. Once a spot is vacated, another animal moves right in. Furthermore, for some reason the environmentalists think I should have protected wolves in my backyard. Personally I think we should reintroduce rattlesnakes in all the state and city parks so the city people can enjoy their "back to nature" time.

A secure barn, electric poultry netting and a LGD are my lines of defense. Hopefully things will really quiet down for you when you get the electric fence installed.

For us, a combination of electric fence and 4 dogs who don't bother the chickens has worked for several months. A couple of dogs have been dropped here in maybe 3 years, and we dealt with them before they got any birds. I hear coyote howls at times, but have not seen one close, yet. Some fox got some chickens last year, but have not been a problem since the dogs were turned loose.

We have nesting hawks on the property who have so far either not bothered the birds, or not been successful. They have lots of mice, rats and rabbits available. There is a nesting eagle pair in the state park not far from here. We have trapped a few coon and possum, but I believe they have enough other food. The trap got cantankerous to use, and I stopped bothering.

I do have a small free range flock whose only protection is the dogs, til they are locked up at night.

I wish there were a simple and effective method for everyone.

Yeah, I caught a neighbor's pet cat, too.
