I FOUND A WOUNDED HAWK NEAR THE CHICKEN COOP!

So,
I came home from church, on my way to shut the chickens I see something laying in my lawn. I thought it was a dead chicken. I came closer... and it's a hawk! I came about a foot away from it, then it started flapping on the grass- it cannot fly.

I don't know what to do.
It was near the chicken coop, so I assume it was going for the chickens, and maybe a rooster came to the rescue.

The chickens are all safe and sound asleep in the coop

We don't have any cameras near the coop, so I don't know what happened.

What should I do with the hawk?
It definitely cannot fly, and it's wounded

An option would have been to call animal control- except.. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret: I don't think we're allowed to own as many chickens as we do, so If someone from animal control sees them, they may force us to get rid of some/all, which is something that I REALLY don't want to do

That sounds like a plan
It'd be payback for all the innocent chicken deaths it has caused on our homestead

Sometimes they’ll pick them up. Also, a center that doesn’t take birds may transfer it to a center that does.

I agree this is the best option. Wear thick gloves, throw a blanket over it and see if you can put it in a pet carrier/crate if you have one. Many places have raptor rehab centers.
