I gave in and started eggs today! Anyone else due around the 13??

Tomorrow is lockdown day. I candled my questionable one last night. It is developing.

We candled our black copper maran eggs tonight. The first time I couldn't tell because they are so dark. Well, this time there are at least 5 out of the 7 with chicks in them! The other two are questionable, so I marked them and left them in there.

Six more days! The Brinsea mini advance is great!

Well, I miscounted my days... due the 14th not the 13th. Must have been the anticipation??? It sure couldn't be my poor math skills...

Shucks, that's a whole day more...

Anyhoo, I candled tonight again and I'm still having a hard time telling what's going on inside the dark eggs. I know 2 are clear. But the others... 5 look really dark with a good stable aircell and 5 look half dark with an air cell. I've compared them to all the pics of eggs I can find. Hmmmm... I guess we'll see what happens.

We go into lockdown early tomorrow. I am starting it a few hours early because the temps have been on the high side for the duration of the incubation - between 101 and 102 by mercury thermometer. The eggs are moving very slightly already.

we are looking at the 16th. started out with BBS Orps, Buff Orps, Barred Rock and Delie's. 29 egs all total candled on day 10 and got rid of 6 eggs, so still should have a good hatch

So the hubby left for a sheep hunt and its just me and the crib midget. And now the day even though its only been a few hrs is going sooooooooo slow. It doesnt help that the crib midget keeps asking to see the eggs. He loved watching them swim around the other day. Almost lockdown keep up the good luck for us all and be sure and keep us all updated.
