I just got my first chickens this past spring. I spread black sunflower seeds in their run every day for scratch. They gobble them right up. I also give them an occasional treat of lettuce or broccoli. I can't free range in my location so they really enjoy any treats I can give them. Greens from the garden came in handy but the garden is withering away now. I may try oatmeal as a warm winter treat but I have a hard time even looking at oatmeal without gagging so we'll see.
