Sometimes I give them chick crumbles in yogurt. They are typical kids, all excited. Then after they are finished, I check on them and they have it all over their face and head.

They have a game called "Japanese Beetle Pinball". Where I give them a couple of Japanese beetles and they run around a breakneck speed playing keep away all the while bouncing off the walls.

How old are they normally before they take dust baths? I don't mind leaving the dirt in there. Chicks in the wild (roflmao) would have all kinds of fun with dirt.

The first time I let my turkey poults free range they all ran to the dustiest part of the yard and gave themselves a dirt bath, they were like 3 weeks old. They seemed to know what they were doing.

My granddaughter used the claw end of a hammer to loosen the dirt in a fairly large area for the chicks to take their dust baths. She took all the larger rocks out and they are loving it! Several get in there at a time and the dirt just flys. When they get out they shake off leaving a huge dust cloud.

Sometimes the peck in it too. I am not sure if they are finding tiny bugs or just getting grit.
