In the Brooder
Hello All,
My wife, 3 children (8, 6, and 4) and I are 6 days into Chicken ownership! hah When I get any idea or inclination I certainly go for it all. I have always had the aspirations of owning a farm so we decided why not start somewhere and get some chickens! (which seems already to leak over into duck ownership
) While at the farm store we bought 6 week old pullets that were labeled as "Rainbow Layers". They are all set up in their Brooder and doing well! I didn't realize how fast they actually grow in such a short time! We ended up with 2 brown (Butters and Shizit), 2 yellow (Daisy and Sonny) and 2 Black (J-Kwon and Minnie the Unicorn) chicks!
I am excited to continue to learn more about chickens and the bountiful of eggs. I feel like people don't take me seriously about raising chickens and having a farm and I am here to prove them all wrong! Coop supplies have been purchased just need the good weather to show up so it can be assembled.
My family likes to spend time out doors, going on adventures through the woods, hunting, fishing, being on the lake! There is no better past time than the outdoors!
We currently have two inside cats, Cecilia and Smokey, and two dogs Red Heeler named Ruby and a Pomeranian named Theodore Roosevelt III. If you can't tell I like to give animals unique names sometimes!
I am currently a Trainer for a Bank and my wife works there too! We need something to pay for a quickly addictive hobby of being Backyard Chicken-er!
