I got a brown egg with purple speckles. Not normal for my chickens, but I have a variety of breeds . What breed is producing these eggs?

Hello, and welcome to BYC. What breeds do you have?

We have Easter eggers, emeralds and sapphire, barred rock, Orpington buffs, silkies, idk what my older white one is . She was a hand me down from another farm and she's older.

I have had no luck with Guinea’s:

We really don't either, but keep trying. We had one on a nest but not in the hen house or lot and something got her and half the eggs. We keep 1 or 2 adults , keep getting more littles and they'll grow up to let out and then the bigs get killed or something seems. I just got 2 whites, 2 lavender and grays, two lavender, to try again. Fingers crossed.

Our Barred Rock lays eggs like that sometimes, not all the time though. Like some have already said, depends more on the chicken not the breed, or so I think.

That's a pretty egg you have there!

Sometimes the egg will have a heavy bloom that changes the shade too.
