I got a job!

Exactly!! I have never been out of work for more than a week or 2, unless I chose to be. I do construction project management, I dont need to explain to anyone - about the construction industry right now. I am not only amazed that I rose to the top of the pool of candidates,.....I am simply floored, that ME with NO college paperwork - just "boots on the ground" experience, was able to secure this position! I beat out guys with bachelors degrees in project management, based on my project completion list, references and how I "performed" at the interview! So, imagine MY surprise when I get an email to "call the office to process the paperwork".

I start tomorrow morning. Sorry folks, those that will miss my ill-directed wit and sarcasm. It's time for me to move on and justify the GFM that I have recently slid past the wife.

On another note, for what it's worth, I got this job while switching back/forth from BYC and Craigslist. I applied for this job at Midnight last week LOL. Just trying to offer a few words of support to those that are still looking for work. You never know where your next job is going to come from. I did the Monster, Hot-Jobs, career builder + a dozen others. In the end, it was craigslist, a FREE service to post - for company's as well, that I found this. Free advertising and job posting is what company's are looking for. I took a $2,500 pay cut from what I was asking BUT- I am WORKING!!

I was about 4-6 weeks away from going back in the Army...................not that THAT is a bad thing,I enjoyed my time there and got called up for panama. But at least now it's a choice. Maybe i'll just go back in and finish out my 20 as a Guard member..........

Anyways, MORE than anyone thought they would have to read - when they clicked on this thread.

Thanks for listening!!

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread....................

Good for you!!!!!! I SOOO hope the construction industry is back on the rise! My DH is a Superintendent and has been out of work for OVER a year now...it's gettin old, so I KNOW how proud you are to have this job!!

Sweet! Congrats!

I hope you love the job and it ends up being a long term relationship.

Oh, related: I just found out 1/2 hour ago that one of my best friends and his family don't have to move because he got a new job in the area! He called today and starts TOMORROW! Crazy!

Thats great! It's really crazy out there. I was even considering on going back to school and starting another career path. But, WHAT direction is this country going in? What do you take up - thats going to be in demand when you graduate? I stayed away from the short term schools that get you a cert/degree in 5-9 months. (I call them people mills) There's just soo many people going through those programs, hoping to start a career based on the schools salesman's speech. I spoke to a few people that were told of unrealistic wages upon graduation, when they confronted the school/salesman they were told "everybody is hurting right now, just be glad you have a job." But the new job wasnt even enough to pay off their student loans.

I wont sit here and malign this country because I firmly believe that regardless of WHOEVER got in at the last election, they were already set up for failure from the beginning. At least now, people cant say it was a "race" thing. This problem wont be resolved during this presidency and probably will take most - if not all of the next one as well. Corruption and greed from the top down, now the cost of solving it is put on the backs of the working class.

Enough of my rant. Did I tell you that I got a job?
