Evil silkies must be cuddled all day and night. That is how they learn to control you.

Congratulations on your Silkie! I don't know what advice to offer about the chirping......try singing to her, or playing some music.

Have you seen "The Natural History of Chickens"? There's a FL woman and her Silkie rooster featured in the film. The woman is SO happy with her silkie. She and the silkie were swimming in her pool and then the silkie got a bath & blowdry. It was kinda far-out, yet so heart-warming and adorable.
Good luck w/ your noisy girl.

Thanks! i hope its a girl! lol It loves us and it has only been with us for about 9 hours. lol
i was thinking mucis too.
If any body can help too that be cool!
Thanks,

RED heat lamp.

When I brought my three banties (2 silkies 1 cochin) home from the feed store, the days old buff silkie chirped up a storm all the way home, while I put them in the brooder, but stopped as soon as I turned on the red light. Then it was just soft baby chick chirps.

Oh - just remembered I put folded up tube socks in the brooder for them to cuddle on since it was only the three of them. They LOVED the socks. They spent all their time on them next to each other when not eating and running around. Plus you can just throw them in the wash.

Good luck with your little ones.

Awsome! I was excited when i got my first one also! Everyone that had gone to my house to get egg and chicks al made fun of it saying it was so ugly it was cute haha. To me it's cut NOT ugly. Atleast now. She is 6 weeks and is all poofy now and cute. Enjoy your silkie!

Do get a red light. At present, I have 30 chicks in 2 brooders. For the most part they are quiet. I have red heat lamps on both.
