I have one 5yo ISA Brown (among other breeds) and this morning she laid for the first time in like 2mo. I don't know if she has been eating her eggs (I know I have at least one mystery egg eater) or if she just hasn't been laying. This morning, when I went out to collect eggs, I was really excited to see an ISA Brown egg, only to pick it up and realize that the shell is soft and squishy! The side seem a little harder, but the two ends are super soft. I can send a picture of the egg, but it looks normal except that it is soft; it's also a bit more round than usual (this hen usually lays longer eggs). She is currently eating Purina Starter Crumbles because I have pullets living with my layers. She has access to oyster shells (I've always used that as calcium, even before the pullets), food, and water 24/7. The run is large, so it's not because of overcrowding. The coop is clean, so it's not that. The pullets have been living with her for like 4 weeks now, so it's not that change. Maybe it's her age?? I don't know, I'm at a loss here.
