I have a silkie like that. My daughter named her Cry Baby! She is 7 weeks now and still cries. But boy is she the cutest.

I love silkies!!! I only have one and Swiffer is a roo, and he is quiet most of the time. Even when he crows he sounds like a drowning cat.

I don"t really know if my silkie is a she or a he. Cry Baby has been tiffing with another bantam that I think may be a roo. The silkie is much smaller, but I know they take longer to grow. So far she/he is one of the favorites.

My guess is it's screaming it's head off because it's a ROO.

Sorry, but in my experience the ones that cry all the time in the beginning and want to be held the most are the roos. No matter the breed. If I walk into my room right now, cause that's where all my brooders are, the first one to open his mouth will be my 6 week old EE roo Wendell. He was a talkers as a tiny chick and I have come to recognize his peep above all the other EE's. In the big brooder where my 4 week olds are, my SS roos drive me nuts. They ALL want to be held and they ALL cry. (There are 2 pure SS and 3 SS/Wellie mixed roos in there) Not the girls though, every one of them is quiet as a mouse, even the ones that aren't SS! In the brand new brooder with the 1 week olds, no one is peeping much. One is a bit of a crybaby, and he also challenges my hand when I reach in there, so I already know he's a roo, lol. But the others are super quiet. In there I have 2 Marans mixes, 2 Black Mottled d'Uccles, and 4 Bantam Cochins. So yeah, I'd say you have a boy there...

My roo is the loudest of the 4. Mr Grey chirps, sqawcks , yells and even gets louder closer to sun set tonight I laid in my sons room just to keep an eye on them
and I would doze off and every few seconds it was relentless he would go on and on and I asked my son does this happen every night?
He said yea but as soon as he puts on some music the loud mr grey lowers his tone.

They are 5 weeks old this week and seem to be getting louder. :X
