I got me some nasty chickens!

I got me some nasty chickens. Went out to check on the flock and Ginger is pecked bloody again w/ a deep wound on her back. I snatched her up right away and set her up in a dog crate. She's eating and drinking. I'm sure it hurts like hell and I put some purple stuff on it to help it. She'll be in there for the foreseeable future. I'll move it close to the other chickens in a few hours. I have 6 total and four of the other five had blood on their beaks. One white leghorn, we call her Little Bit, cause she was the latest one to develop, well She's NASTY and LOUD! I've seen her peck at ALL of the chickens. Gurr. I wish I could spank her little butt!

I have a sugestion you may not like but may be needed to keep your sanity. 2 words stew pot. the mean one has to go and if you rehome her she may end up in that persons pot, so you might as well be the one who gets dinner out of it.

You may also try getting the mean one a pair of pinless peepers that they use on pheasants. It sits on the top of their beak and snaps into the nostrils. It acts like a blinder, blocking vision right in front of the bird. This keeps her from targeting a bird to peck at. I have one sweet little Bantu Cochin hen. She is sweet as pie to people...but if you cage her with another chicken, she will eat them. I got a pair of peepers for her and with them she can now she can live with other birds and learn more normal behavior.
