I got mugged in my own yard!!

There is a downside to having really tame chickens: "yard sharks".

Yesterday I was sitting out in the yard, reading a book, and nibbling on a piece of homemade bread with the last of the Trader Joe's goat's milk brie and some homemade onion marmalade. I had a nice glass of white wine and was enjoying the summer moment. It was delicious in many wonderful ways.

Unfortunately, my barred rock decided she wanted it. She stole it from me, the little yard shark! The resulting fracas over the cheese was amusing but still... that was MY treat!!

That was one smart, epicurious chicken!!

I used to sit in the chicken run with a glass of wine, and boy were they ever fond of that. They're teetotalers now, I couldn't afford to keep them in cabernets.

I love to sit with my girls and just relax, but it just can't include my food anymore.....I swear they hold a meeting and decide who is going to distract me, and who is going to steal the sandwich. I really don't want to tell you this has happened more than once......

I have a mugger at large on our property. She has light brown hair with dark highlights and to her nilla wafer cookies (my favorite snack) are chickie meth. She goes by the name of Lilith.
