I got my chickens today and moved in.

I bought six RIR hens and one RIR Rooster today. They are about seven months old. They seem to like the Coop I bought off of CL. I did cut out four more windows for airflow and light.

My Rooster seems to like the nest boxes more than the hens. He gets in there and makes calling sounds so maybe he is trying to get the hens to lay eggs. LOL. I'll post some pics soon. I took some today but the camera fogged up and some of the pics didn't come out very good.

That's cute. He is probably telling them "hey, look, it's safe. Come on in and lay your egg now".

When I built my new nest box for the bantams last year that's exactly what my little guy did ~ and they all listened to him!

Whatever the Rooster did, it worked. I got three eggs today. I figured it would be awhile before they layed since their surroundings are new.

Well, I ended the day with five eggs on the first day. Five of the six hens came through. I never thought that would happen.
