I got my first egg. How long for another?

My Barred Rock laid her first egg. It was perfect and delicious. Now, how long until the second egg? Is it a gamble at first? It was day before yesterday she laid her egg.

my FBCM just started laying this past week. she layed a very long, narrow 1st egg....then skipped a day, then layed her 2nd egg and the next day layed her 3rd. it's normal for them not to be very consistent when they 1st start laying. it depends on the girl. i've had some be pretty consistent, but then others, they lay, then take 2 or 3 days off, then lay another, then take one day off, then lay, then take 2 - 4 days off etc.

Yep hens and only the hens know when they are going to lay you some breakfast

Our first laying hen took 2-3 days after her first. Then they start coming more regularly.....and eventually get to be full sized

Our BA only started laying this week and so far we've had 6 eggs! Her laying times have been a little weird though.

Egg #1 - Tuesday 9am
Egg #2 - Tuesday 10am (second egg from her that day!)
Egg #3 - Wednesday 3pm
Thursday she took the day off
Egg #4 - Friday morning (before 7am)
Egg #5 - Saturday morning (before 7am)
Egg #6 - Sunday 8am

All have been perfectly formed and a decent size (between 48 and 55 grams).
