In the Brooder
Today I got my first egg. For the past 5ish days, my 18 week old Sapphire Gem, Stormy, has been crouching and stomping every time I bent down near her. After some research, I waited in anticipation of eggs, hoping I would be here to witness it before leaving on a trip this weekend. Well, the waiting paid off and Stormy (at least I think it was her) laid her first egg today. This is my first ever flock I've raised from chicks and it's my first ever first egg. Funnily enough, instead of sitting in her nesting box to lay it, she laid it on top of the nesting box. I'm glad I started feeding her some oyster shells after noticing the stomping because the egg feels like it has a very nice, solid shell. I'm so proud of her and I can't wait for her sisters to start laying! Anyways, here is Stormy and her first egg!
