I got my first Quail egg this morning

I am doing the egg dance. I got my first egg this morning. Just in time as my first batch of eggs (Bought from Ebay) is due to hatch Friday. Right now I have 2 males and 3 females. I am hoping to hatch more females but I only have 27 in the bator

Quail eggs are so cute! And no worries about extra roos...they are delicious! I am trying to build my flock again, too. I started with jumbo browns and A&M, but we butchered all of the A&M (too hard to tell boys from girls) and all of the brown boys except three and the 6 females. Lost one boy a few weeks ago due to the other roos-so I am hoping for lots of girls too. I candled last night and out of 26, 25 eggs were still viable

I'm waiting on my 2nd bunch to lay. They are button quails and about 5 weeks old. Anyway now.

I had 22 eggs make it to lockdown, and 20 hatched. Sadly, one had very crippled feet so handsome hubby culled it. I can't stand to see them suffer. They hatched on Thursday night and friday, and are doing great.
