Poison IVY! This is the first time I've ever had it ..and it has to be the worst!

So far its on my hands and forarms and I'm hoping like heck I dont' break out on my face. Itches like FIRE!

Sympathys Please

Now that you know you are allergic to it, let me warn you about mango skin. It has the same type of irritant, but much more mild. I kept getting mini breakouts and couldn't figure out why until my aunt warned me. I can still eat them, but I use gloves to cut them up or have DH do it. If you do come into contact with poison, ivy, oak, mango, whatever, immediately wipe it off with nail polish remover.

Yup - went to the pharmacy yesterday and got it all. I took 2 benedryl and hot shower before bed last night..afterwords I coated all the blisters with a baking powder paste and went to bed. It sooo relived the itches until morning. Then this morning I did it all again ( minus the bendryl - cause it makes me sleepy) and I was good up until about 2 this afternoon. I'm ready to take some more pills and hit the shower and go to bed.

ZANFEL This is what you should use. I myself am highly allergic to poison ivy and used to have to be in the dr.s office within 24 hours or I would be covered in blisters all over the infected area. Literally within 24 hours. I ran across this stuff called Zanfel. It runs about $40 at any pharmacy but if you eBay it, you can usually get 2 or 3 bottles for the same amount.

Anyway, it does 20 doses per tube roughly. so at $20 copay to the doctor and $10 copay for a script of steroids I figure that bottle saves me about $400-roughly if he can give me sample packs of steroids. It works. It really, really works. You are basically "sandpapering" the oil out of the poison ivy to get it off of your skin-that's the best way to describe it. But it works. I haven't had to make any emergency trips to the doctor because I had 1 dot or dozens of dots of poison ivy on me. This stuff is amazing and I can't say enough about it! I must have 6 tubes! Just because I'm afraid they'll pull it off the shelves because it does truly work!

The price sounds steep but it's well worth it!

Since so many people are coming down with this awful stuff, I thought I'd mention something I saw at the pharmacy the other day. There is some medicine that removes poison oak/ivy oils from your skin. You wash with it, and it works in FIFTEEN SECONDS! It's kinda pricey, but may be worth the cost. Sorry I don't remember what it is called, but if you look in the ivy remedies, you should see it.

It's called Zanfel. And it works! It has a mild abrasive in it and it does truly work...I'm proof! My own doctor couldn't believe how bad my reaction to poison ivy used to be. I didn't even know I was allergic...never got poison ivy in my entire life until 30 something??

and man was it bad!! Every time I got it I suffered for quite some time - not any more....check it out...it DOES work.
