unexplained deaths in my flock (graphic photos)

What about a cooler?
Cooler will do- call your local vet- they will direct you to the best possible drop off location. You may be surprised, your vet may take it on asap and give to to the proper authoritative department- you are young, use that to your advantage and play that card.

my mom said no to putting a chicken in the fridge
Do you happen to have a box? Preferably styrofoam. You can put an ice pack or fill a bag full of ice and put a towel over it. You can then put the chicken you choose to take to testing in the box. Close the box, and put a towel over it to keep it cool.

I called an avian vet somewhat close to me but they are only answering emergency calls so I left a message. I’m not sure if this counts as an emergency I don’t want to make someone’s choking dog wait
Not an emergency, good call. Call again later or call the nearest one other than them. Say you think your bird was poisoned and you need a necropsy. They will likely give you a number to call.
