Yesterday I called a chicken breeder to see if he had any chicks because I waqs going into town the next day and he said he had some silkies hatching that night and the next morning, so I told him to save me 4 of the silkies. So when I went over to his house today he had abunch of chicks, RIR, BR, JG and all kinds of stuff. He showed me the 4 silkies he put aside for me and there were 5 he said one of them was a frizzled that he though was a silkie, he asked if I wanted that one, too? I said yes I wanted that one, too! lol
So then he went and got a Japanese bantam that was very tiny and said that was the only bantam he had left ... I think he was trying to get me to buy it so I did then I saw he had Jersey Giants! I always wanted some Jersey Giants so I bough 1 Black Giant and one Blue Giant. So instead of 4 chicks I come home with 8 ...

how did that happen?

Also today I got 1 Buff Orpington hen, 1 Molted Houdan hen, 1 White silkie roo, and 1 Buff Silkie hen from a friend so I came home with 12 chickens ... ? How that happened I'll NEVER KNOW!!!!

The silkie chicks I got were: 3 Buff Silkies and 1 White silkie. I think the Jap chick is white. The frizzled? I'll post a picture of him in a little bit. Then a black JG and a Blue JG!! Will post pictures later!!

Buff Silkie, this one has abunch of spots and stripes .

White silkie. This one doesn't have much of a top - hat or a muff.

Frizzled chicken, I don't know what breed he is? Any ideas?

His back.

White Japanese Bantam. I think I got a quail instead of a chick! He is so tiny! But he's the most active. lol

Jersey Giant chicks. The Black one I'm pretty sure is a rooster because he attacked me. Then the other JG chick is Blue. That one isn't very old. There in with my two other chicks I hatched out myself.

I had to put them in different brooders because the bigger chicks were pecking at the silkies.

I have only ever had White Silkie chicks, but are you certain that those Buff Silkies are really Buffs? Because they sure do look like they have Partridge markings. You'll have to take more pics once their actual feathers start coming in so we can see. As for your little Frizzle, he looks so sad! But it sure is a cute chick! I don't know what breed, but looks like maybe it's an EE? Your little Japanese Bantam is sooo cute! Looks like an itty bitty Bantam I have that I just bought at TSC the other day. It's so tiny but feisty! I thought it was a Bantam White Leghorn, but now I'm not so sure! I also hatched out a boatload of chicks the last few weeks, and some are so incredibly tiny it amazes me. One is a Black Silkie too. Not sure yet if it's pure though. I got the eggs from another BYC'er and her Silkies are in with a whole bunch of other Bantams. What's wrong with your one little Silkie's foot? I feel bad for them when they are hurt. I just lost a tiny little guy that had damaged his own toe. He/she passed away last night, but it had partially torn off it's own toe. Your baby's foot looks intact, so I'm wondering what is wrong? They are all adorable though. Good luck with them and take some more pics as they get older. Oh, and what are the two chicks you just hatched out? They're cuties!

Edited to say that I just noticed that your Frizzle has feathered legs. So now I truly am clueless as to what it is! Maybe it's a Silkie cross?

The so called "Buff" Silkies I don't know sure sure it they're Buff Or Partridge? What do Buff silkies chicks look like?

I've never had any. I only have a full grown Buff Silkie hen.

The hurt silkie chick was just fine when I got him and then I think when I got them home I had to stick all of the chicks in the same brooder for a little while because I had to go put the adult chickens in the pen cause they needed some water very badly!
wink.png
So I think the bigger chicks stepped on his foot or something??? I really dunno what happened to him? He can eat and drink just fine but one of his toes on his foot is all deformed. He also always has stuff on his rear end I have to get off ...

The frizzled chick ...? I'm just gonna guess Silkie X ?

I found myself in need of pine shavings today and in a Tractor Supply. DANGER!!! There were bins of fuzzy butts calling me to look at them. It was a miracle that I got out of there without doing anything silly (like rescuing all of them!). My only limitation (besides my husband's eye rolling) is the size of my coop, but I'm working on that! I've got 7 BSMs in the bator and will be at maximum capacity if I get a decent hatch.
