I was at a water park with the kids today and I was wearing sunblock I was applying a 50SPF block about every 2 hours. It waid on the bottle that it was water proof but to reapply every 2 hours so I did.... and I still got burned...

I know the "traditional" treatment...
lots of water
pain reliever
aloe

but what works best from you ?

Solarcaine, spray or lotion either one. It really works miracles! They also have a solarcaine aloe gel. Solarcaine is something I will always have in my medicine cabinet!! It works on regular old burns as well. If you don't have any (or can't get any) witch hazel should help with the inflamation as well.

I got the solarcaine aloe gel and I am not finding its working...as the aloe adsorbs it feels like the skin is being pulled tighter

Just keep putting it on, if you have any regular lotion you can put that on as well. Part of what makes your skin burn is that the sun removes the moisture. So your skin is just sucking up all that moisture from the aloe gel. I've heard that noxzema will take the burn out, but recent postings on here have nixxed the noxzema idea.

I know alot of people come after me and say it is very drying but it WILL take the pain away - NOXZEMA! It is NOT drying - it has three different types of oils in it. It will take away the sting. Put on aloe first then the noxzema.

ETA: I am sportin a sunburn that SPF 50 couldn't stop

I went to Galveston yesterday, and even though I put sunscreen on, I am crispy fried...mostly on my back. I was out there all day, and the water, salt, sand, wind, sweat, sun....all a BAD combination. I'm putting tons of lotion on, and took some advil.

Living in FL, I imagine you would get burned a lot!

I don't hardly ever get burned anymore, I guess my skin is just too tough now. Probably from all the times I was covered in blisters from the darned things!
