There's no quick fix for sunburn. Keep it cool. Cold towels, cool bath. Keep the skin moist. Don't pop the blisters. Use an anti-inflamatory over-the-counter like Advil.

OUCH!!!!!
I am sore this morning...

my face is swollen and i cant raise my arms high enough to put my hair in a ponytail

I just now saw this post and am really hoping that you have not put anything on your burn yet. I know that sounds crazy, but putting anything on your sunburn for the first 24 hrs. actually makes it worse. It traps the heat into your skin where it can't escape and just radiates, making things much worse. I found this out last year when I burnt my back severely (blisters plus skin damage all winter) cleaning out pool. After the 24 hrs. have passed, most of the heat will have escaped and it will be okay to put aloe on your burn.

Good luck to you! I know it's painful, believe me!

Don't forget to drink plenty of water; the body needs extra for healing burns / flushing out the damaged stuff...

ok here is me 24 hours later..

the coolish shower i took was the best relief so far but right after as i was air drying i could feel the skin starting to pull tight but the burning is no longer there.

I still have a very hard time putting my hair in a ponytail my DD did this one for me

First thing I put on any kind of burn is ice, to stop the reaction. Nurses used to be taught this does not work but I don't buy it.

Be careful with Solarcaine. It has a numbing agent, a "caine" drug, similar to what the dentist uses. It does help, but if you overuse it, you can wind up with a nasty cellulitis that hurts worse than the burn. Used to see this all the time in tourists who'd gone deep sea fishing, on the tops of their thighs, when I lived in the Keys. I like aloe, the inside of the leaf, not from a bottle, as another poster said. Works best if you start using it early.

last time i got a sunburn got me in a world of trouble
my cure for a sunburn must remain my secret

you have to be careful with ice though cause if you dont rotate it 15 on 15 off it can cause frost bite a cold cloth is better or a hot water bottle with ice water in it

Can a sunburn make you "sick"? I am very sick today, after getting my sunburn on Monday. My front looks like mjsdhs, but my back is a little worse. I was OK yesterday, but today I feel horrible. I have a fever and "stomach" issues...I don't want to be graphic, but feel like a Pepto Bismol commercial.

I have no idea if it's related, or if I somehow picked up a nasty stomach virus on top of the sunburn.
