I got thrown over a fence to save one of my chickens

They keep finding holes and getting through! We now have plywood and chicken wire employed to block holes and the ladder from our above ground pool over the fence so I can get them without my bf's help if they escape. Chickens will stop at nothing to get some new bugs (Or give Big Human Momma Hen a heart attack!)!

Aren't Labs bird dogs? How did you teach him not to go for the girls?

I thougt labs were bird dogs too but it probably depends on the individual dog.

Minni is actually scared of them, believe it or not! That is because one time she stuck her nose through the chain link separating the pool and the chickens, and got pecked by 3 girls!

My dog, a collie, is scared of my rooster who rushes at him thru the fence. Here is a picture

Watch your lab it is a bird dog, the collie is a herding dog... the Lab may be great with you out there but do not leave it alone with them please...

UPDATE: Even after we put chicken wire over the whole fence, they were still getting through! Then, I found out how. Clever little hens were climbing up the ladder! I removed it and they haven't gotten out since. Oh, did I mention my boyfriend proposed to me?

I love it when they go up steps! We have a double deck that wraps around the back of the house. The chickens' coop and run are in front of the lower deck. Several years ago when I first got chickens and joined BYC (because I didn't know what I was doing) I was at the computer, which was by our sliding glass doors to the upper deck, looked out and saw our chickens looking in at me!
