I had to cull a chick :(

Yesterday... my first one. I was so upset. DH built this massive pop door that drops like a gilatine. I asked him to open the door and I called the chicks. They came running and the door fell and crushed one of my hens. Instantly broke her legs and wing. She was making gurgling noises and I didn't think I'd be able to save her, so I broke her neck

What a waste.

Aw Shellie, I am so sorry. I have those gilatine type doors too and am always scared I am going to let it down on someone and hurt them. These types of accidents are so tough. :aww

I'd like to say culling chicks gets easier but it doesn't. What does help
is the feeling that you were strong and did the right thing.
