I went out this morning to let my ducks and geese out and had visitors by the pond. I tried to run them off and they wouldnt leave. I left and came back a few hours later and they had flown away.

That one crossed with something looks interesting! They make me miss my goose!

I was surprised they let me get close to them. They were about 6 feet away. They are just as messy and make more noise if i'm out there with them. I never hear any noise when i'm inside. That could be because my pond is about 50 yards from my house though.

definitely messier,meaner,&noisier.They land in my pond at all hours off the night and are very rude.

My 2 Embden are in with 8 ducks in a pen with small garden pond.
The geese are friendlier, but probably because I handled them more as babies. I can herd them, but the ducks are much harder to herd. The geese come up and pull at my clothes, stick their heads into buckets, eat grass from my hand, etc. Only the girl will still let me pick her up and pet her, though.
They do leave bigger poo than the ducks. The duck poo is more watery and disappears into the grass.
They are louder than the ducks. If there is activity out of the ordinary, like a deer in the garden or the garage door goes up, they let out a loud honking scream. They also like to herd the ducks and break up duck fights. They like to "goose" my puppy and chase my cats. I really find them more entertaining than the ducks.
Michael, I like this picture of the cross-bred goose. I've not seen one like it at the lake near me where lots of Canadians hang out and raise their young.
