I hate car shopping.

I was at the Adam Sandler show in Chicago that got taped for HBO years back...and Farley made a guest appearance...that nut.

I thought bluey was related to Farley?

me,
g

oh and what they didn't show on the HBO show...besides all the REEEAALLY funny stuff...was Sandler beating up a broken down car on the stage.

there i just made it relate to cars again.

You can always do like I did.

1. Borrow a car from a friend, drive to dealership.
2. Pre-pick price & options on vehicle you want.
3. Offer to trade in your old car, sight-unseen.
4. Offer a price, way overvaluing the trade-in.
5. Watch them sweat, sit back in the chair, ask for coffee. After 20 mins tell them to call you if they ever make up their minds.
6. Pretend to leave.

Guaranteed you'll get your car, your options and your price. Remember, there is about 20% variable built into the MSRP on new, and about 35% on used!

I should also mention I traded in a 2005 Hundai Accent, standard, with 77k on it, after a frontal collision with bold tires and in need of a break job for 7500k. How? I didn't ask for 'that much' but rather for 'so much off' the new truck.

Then again, I bought a 2008 Ford Ranger with the sqeekiest clutch known to man (brand new, now 8 months later, 25k and 4 clutch replacements!). They still haven't fixed it.

Remember, the sales guy needs to sell you a car to keep his job.

Good hunting!

I'm another very satisfied Saturn customer. They treated me with respect, even though I was a woman and was shopping my myself. I love my Vue.

thats ok..

We had a sales person at the Hyundai dealership from hell tell us to let them reposes our car. Then we could get into a car with lower payments.

Ah ha. I can see it now. We are silly enough to do that, go back to the dealership and get told "Uh no. Your credit is crap. you have a car that was repo'd recently." ta da. Stuck with NO vehicle and no way for me to get to work, the barn or the kid to school etc etc etc.

I feel your pain. Walked out of three dealerships before I found a salesperson who

1. Bothered to speak to me at all--lots didn't, even though they were clearly not at all busy. They had all the time in the world for anyone who walked in dragging a passel of kids, though.
2. Talked to me, not DH
3. Actually answered the questions I asked.

Seriously, this is all I require of any salesperson. I'm not a huge fan of hovering and chitchat, but they need to greet me, ask if they can help me with anything, and answer my questions or else make a valid effort to find out the answer. The entire process takes perhaps 15 minutes, and if I'm already in the dealership, it's because I did my research on which car I want and have decided that I would probably buy a car from there. It's the easiest sale, ever, if they could but trouble themselves to be civil for 15 minutes.

And DH refuses to drive my Subaru wagon to work for fear his co-workers will think he's a lesbian, too. I told him, provided a lesbian would take out the trash, do the dishes and put her dirty socks in the hamper (not on the floor), I'd just about consider batting for the other team...

My fiance Ken used to be a car salesman, and he never, ever, ignored women. He told me he knows who REALLY makes the decisions in a family. He was always flabberghasted by salesmen that were like that towards women. He used to tell them "Be nice to the ladies and you can be popular like me".

I don't trust banks anymore. I had an ex-tenant walk into Wells Fargo, without any sort of picture ID, drain my checking, open a new one, and then transfer it away from Wells a week later to an offshore account. The people involved at that Wells were fired, and the ex-tenant is now in jail for a very long time, but I still haven't gotten my money back. This was over two years ago, and it's still going through all sorts of FDIC loopholes.

So I have a Money Network card and pay cash for everything.

Agh. Dont even get me going on Wells Fargo. Perfect that they are now joined with Walk all ova ya
They service our mortgage and a few years ago had our payments going to someone elses mortgage. we got notice that our account was past due. called them. "Yup. Your past due"
We had the information from our bank saying that the money had been being sent and was going somewhere on their end.
We ended up having to file bankruptcy to stall them from foreclosing on the house! Took them nearly a year to fix it. We refinanced, got another company... and then WF bought the mortgage BACK!!! We are going to be stuck with the bastards forever.
Oh and the latest? we are trying to refi. Went through them. Figure. Hey. They have all the information already.. right? Ah ha. I spoke to the guy three weeks ago. Havent heard from him since. I have called and gotten no call backs. I hate them

OMG! I've heard that Subaru story too!!!
We actually bought our two Contours through Ford.com...they don't do that any more though...darn. It was easy. Pick out your car, have it sent to the closest dealer with a deposit. If you don't like it, they'll put it in their inventory...tooo easy.

My Contour finally bit the dust and I needed a new car. We went back to Jannell and I fell in love with a Navy Black ZX5. We took the test drive and went all over creation and I crawled under it and looked around and we took him.
When he got wiped out (not my fault) we went and looked around for another one and they didn't have any. He was a creampuff too. So I went online...I knew how much they wanted for each add-on and for mileage and all that stuff. I walked into Herb Chambers and they had a jet black ZX3...low miles (!) we took it out...nice car. The tires were crap!!We didn't go back.
Went back to Jannell. Another ZX3 in Silver. Had my paperwork and they were like I don't think so and I got up to leave...DH packed up his checkbook. I looked the car over once more...the salesman was beside himself. The salesmanager himself came out and was like what payment and we're like pfft payments...we gave him a number and he was like can't do that...bye...He's beside himself... They wanted $10K for her and I started at $7500. We got her for $8500.

I hate Bank of America...buncha crooks...

My rental after the accident with Tlaloc I had my rental through Enterprise...An 08 ZX4 with *25* miles on it...if I had been able to afford to buy it, I would've! That's the newest car I've ever driven. This last accident I got an 08 Kia Optima, another nice car.
