Welp, here we are smack in the middle of one of the hottest, muggiest summers on record and I can't get my humidity down! I have a small forced air bator but when I checked it this morning it had risen all the way to 65%!! I removed all the water (now it's beeping like crazy, grr) and placed a cup of salt next to the air intake to try and get the moisture levels down but I'm paranoid. I candled the eggs right after and saw that the air cells haven't budged one millimeter in the past 7 days. Still have about 10 days of incubation left to go (they're call ducks) and I'm worried that at this point there's no way enough moisture will evaporate in time. Any suggestions for what I can do?

I am in SC. I have to put my incubator in my smallest room and run the AC 24/7. Otherwise the humidity stays about 70% or higher. (I also sleep in that room

I wish we had AC, but sadly we don't. I guess here in the Northwest noone things it's necessary, but oh man these summers lately, I wish it were! Can't install one either, costs too much and my HOA won't allow those cheaper window installations. Because HOA.

Hoping the rock salt will do the trick...no idea what else I can do.

Sorry but no help from me. I have incubated twice this year and loved it because I only had to add a small amount of water. Last winter I tried it and couldn't keep the humidity up. You might try removing all the eggs and dumping the water out and drying it out with a towel or hair dryer. A short absence from the incubator shouldn't hurt the eggs.

I already got rid of all the water in the bator. It has a sensor to warn when the level's low though so now it's beeping every ten minutes. Joy. I have it in the downstairs bathroom with the door closed, to try and control the environment as well as block out that infernal noise! :p

It's funny, when it comes to upping humidity there's loads you can do, but when it comes to trying to lower it you're kinda screwed! I just hope the babies will be able to hatch okay...

Edit: Okay, the salt cup helped, humidity's back down to 40-45%. But it should have been that way all of this past week. I just hope the eggs develop normally. C'mon duckies, please develop normally!

Here in Poland you can get those dehumidifiers (not sure if thats a Correct name ;-) ) Its some kind of gel or powder that absorbs humidity. Maybe that would help?

You can purchase those silica packs that they put in items to draw humidity away. Just be careful not to break them and remove them at lock down. Don't want chicks getting in them.

Hey, there's an idea! My husband works with computers, he said he can bring home a whole bunch of 'em that come with server and processor shipping containers. Thanks!

No problem. If you have space to use a cup to put them in, it will make it easier to put them in and take them out, and if one is leaking powder it wont be in won't be hitting the Bator.
Desiccate packs, that's what they are called. I couldn't remember earlier.

There isn't much space, it's a tiny Rcom Mini. I do have paper cups though, I could just cut the top off one and place it in there like a shallow dish.
