Sorry krypto, I have chickens that free range, and a dog that does too. Not all dog kill birds. If mine did he wouldnt be here.

Well, the dog has always been around chickens, never a problem. Just liked to chase the chickens once in a while. Just out of curiosity where is he gonna go? Did you find him a home?

We did catch him out yelping the other day. We keep him on a chain now right by the chickens we noticed if he cant run he wont chase and he leaves the chickens alone. I'm sorry you lost your chick if you do find your dog another home be sure to let them know what he has done. If you take him to pound do not tell them because he will just be put down. I hope your night gets better. Blessings, PQ

bring him to me, i will take him. every animal i have is a rescue or something someone was throwing away because they didn't "fit". i have a deaf dog that i got from the vet. i found the owners they said it got lost in a thunderstorm and they didn't want him anyway so they never looked for him. sad
and a rottie that was 9 months old and had been locked in a garage because it was too big and the wife didn't like it... so just tie it in the garage. just example, don't want to bore you with the cat and horse stories...

This is called Random Rambling....because Im rambling, ranting, venting! I dont need anyones input. And he will NOT go to the pound! He is a very well bred dog and I have had plenty of offers on him and I will call one of them tomorrow. Not that its anyones business!

I'm so sorry.
I am paranoid about dogs or cats getting my chicks. I have a brooder with a snap on lid, bolted on wire so they can't push it off. Also, they are in their own room or on the porch where the dogs can't get them. I understand you're feeling, but don't you want to wait a week to make sure you're not acting on emotion?
Aw, I'm sorry! Nasty dog. I'd never even consider keeping a dog that ate my birds around. My chihuahua snapped at one of my birds the other day, and boy howdy did she learn her lesson! I didn't get rid of her, but as soon as she turned around and saw me she knew she was in serious trouble. That was the first time I've ever had a dog show any negative feelings to my birds though. From puppyhood they learn that chickens are not to be even looked at. My lab, a BIRD DOG, knows and obeys not to bother the chickens. They live in perfect harmony now.
