I have wide short feet. I'm a short woman and they don't look very large, but I have to buy shoes large enough to be wide enough, which means they're often too large. I love it when I can find D shoes.
Mine have really high arches. To a point that I have to lace all lace up shoes really loosely or I wind up with horrible pain at the top of the arch. My DD has flat wide feet. She lives in Crocs.
I have duck feet or flippers. Size 10 wide, it is so hard to find cute shoes when your feet are that big. I have fairly high arches and insteps too, so any pull on boots are out of the question. All sandals must have adjustable straps across the toes or they don't fit. Most clog style shoes don't work because my instep is so high. They were a size eight, but then I got fat, got pregnant, had a couple of kids and started running....size 10.
Crocs are great for those with swollen or wide feet. They make them in tons of styles, colors & sizes. They even have sherpa lined ones for cold weather!
I had wide feet before I was pregnant then while in my 3rd trimester my feet were so swollen I only wore flip flops or went bare foot. I went from a 7 wide to an 8.5 wide. My feet are huge now!!!!! I hate crocs. All the other girls I work with wear them. The facility made them sign an inservice advising them not to wear them due to safety issues. Now if they get hurt at work our administrator claims that workmens comp won't pay if they are wearing crocs.
I wear 8.5 EEE. I highly suggest ugly crocs & Brooks running shoes. I finally have tennis shoes that fit! I had resorted to men's wide before & they didn't fit right.
