I hate this time of night.

I'm jealous! I really want to go to Germany, it's where my mother was born. My boyfriend has been, so I MUST go!

G'night!!!

Ooh, but I'll have to live with German people and speak German.

Too bad when I can't even remember the past participle of 'beschliessen'... I'm going to fail my vocab test today

Good morning!!!

Good evening . How are things down under ? Very polite people you are , knew a guy that came to the U.S. to play collegiate golf .

Things are great, actually. The ash cloud is moving along, so air travel's started up again.
I know nothing about golf. I'm not the type cut out for sport

That cloud hit your country ? Was it a mess , can't recall where the eruption took place , but it was awful there . I just met Mike through some mutual friends , he was a very polite person . Unfortunately he had to go back because of the type visa he had . As long as he was in college he could stay , he graduated and had to leave . That was 25 years ago . lol I know he fought it but lost .

Yup, it was here all right. Flights have been cancelled left, right and centre: worst affected were Tassie and NZ, but it's been floating around here, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide as well. Qantas, the biggest airline, lost $21 mil.

There is speculation that the cloud is going to come round for a third time.

Aww, that sucks. I'm here on a permanent visa, don't know how this residency stuff in the US works. I'd guess it'd be similar to what we have here.

What is the climate like where you are ? Do y'all have 4 distinct seasons unlike Louisiana . You are there on a permanent visa ? So you weren't born in Australia ? It has been hotter than a nanny got eating seven rows of hot peppers at one time . We were pegging 100 degrees at the end of SPRING !

Oh, the seasons, they sorta merge into one another, but there are definitely two distinct ones, if not four. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable times. The overcast gradually drifts away, the rain becomes non-existant and the plants begin to die (or grow, if it's autumn: here, plants die in summer and thrive in winter
lau.gif
) and before you know it you're in the height of summer! it's very gradual, I find.

No, I was born in the UK, we've been back and forth many times... settled here for now though.

It's a good place.
Yes, the weather HAS been playing up recently: you guys seem to have gotten higher temps... whereas down here, the mercury never rose above 40C! It usually gets over 45 in the summer

I went out of country only once and that was to Mexico for our Honeymoon . I have often thought about moving to another country to retire , but it's only a thought . Our oldest son is mildly handicapped . He works at a place that caters to special needs people and functions very well ,but could never go at it alone and we have a married daughter . So it's only a thought . In Louisiana we go straight into winter out of summer and vice versa . Airlines are not good to have stock shares in anyway , they burn up to much fuel . The city I was raised in was where Delta airlines was started . They started out crop dusting and I can still see the grass runway they had in my mind . It wasn't far from our home .

How long is that cloud supposed to hang around? I leave for Cape York in September for a few weeks. Flying into Sydney then Cairns. Hope its over by then!

Mexico looks like a great place. I have seen shots of it on TV... I've never been over to that part of the world, I'd love to just see what it's like

I think it's great you're there for your son! That's fantastic.

Yeah, I read all about Delta's history... a bit of personal research, I'm mildly into aviation. Is that so? I'd love to have lived near somewhere with significance like that

I've heard the airline stocks aren't doing too well, no. Qantas, especially, they've hit ... well, what have they hit? Certainly not the jackpot

Just woke up so I decided to go out and see how warm it is. Still 90 degrees out there at 1:45AM.

I shut off the AC in the coop... it actually felt nice in there. They were all sleeping nicely...

I hate when sleep escapes me... glad I have tomorrow off.
