I Hate to Say It, But,

Pics
Ramses will have had a very good life, with one bad day, or few minutes, at the end. That is a much better life than 99.99999% of male chickens ever get.

If it happens this fall or this week, well, so be it. I'll miss seeing pictures of him, as he is gorgeous. For my "pictures of gorgeous rooster" sake, I hope it's this fall.

He has a very promising blue son and also a really nice black son.

Plus whatever hatched yesterday.

And I hope it's before he hurts someone.

Yes. I'm monitoring the situation closely and I'm the only one allowed in the coop and run right now (which is inconvenience since I counted on help from my son for some things).

the planned cull is a breeding decision more than a behavior decision.

Yes, to a point.

He was going to leave my flock after the spring hatches were done regardless.

His behavior is such that he's going to enjoy a calming herbal bath in the crockpot instead of the planned sale along with a few of the spare hens. :(

I very much think aart was using "cull" in the textbook "remove from flock" definition.

Probably. :)

I'm going to put my 3, 16-week cockerels into pet carriers overnight so I can do a thorough, hands-on examination of each tomorrow and select one of them to sell.

We're gonna need pictures if possible

It sucks when it's a named specimen. I mean other than 'lunch', 'dinner'....
but you only need one rooster.

Well, I need 2 if possible.

I have about 23(?) females, though a few are underage pullets.

For my January hatch I put about 28 or so eggs into the incubator and pulled 10 clears at day 7 so I seem to need a second male to ensure good fertility in the flock.
