I Hate Wild Dogs!

We have a few small packs here, and they are such a nuisance! Thank heavens I have 3 dogs of my own that are protective of their flock! They let me know as soon as they are at the fence line! But this no sleep cuz i'm up chasing off wild dogs all night is just getting to be to much!

Last night though i'm not sure if they were dogs or coyotes because I couldn't see them very well. They scared easily enough but kept coming back! Our yard has an 8 foot chain link fence around the whole property, so whew! I probably wouldn't have gotten any sleep if we didn't. Plus all our chicken coops have concrete two foot deep, and 3 foot out from the pens with actual solid wooden roof tops. I worry about my dogs more than my chickens! BUT (there's always one of those) Our duck pens aren't concreted in yet, so I worry about them right now, they're still new.

Our wild dog packs are mainly mastiffs! I scared one away one morning, and two more ran at my fence growling!

We had a similar problem in Il. when I was growing up, but dads sharpshooting cured the problem.

Wild mastiffs???? Omigosh, they could do some damage to a human as well as a chicken! I wouldn't take any chances with those. And the lack of sleep has to be getting to you. Glad you have an 8 ft fence but I hope they don't get the chance and inclination to dig under!

I agree! Do you have animal control out where you live that can / will do something about them? I hate to kill a dog, but if it a threat to my animals, family or my own health, and the non-lethal means won't work, then there is little choice. I hope a solution presents itself sooner rather than later! Be careful!

Wild agressive mastiffs! My gosh and I thought my neighbors mastiffs were scary

If you can't get whatever passes for animal control out there, check your state's laws on at large dogs and dogs harassing domesticated animals, then if legal shoot, shovel, and shut up.

I had a buddy that made some food for the wild ones... it was mixed with some type of laxative...

they did this twice and then never came back to his place... and they weren't dead...

ex-lax and milk with meat chunks or something...
