Okay I'm uploading a pic of our coop situation along with measurements, and housing situation. Our coops are all made of chain link, and have solid wood roofs. Each coop also have sleeping quarters. One rooster has two perches with an igloo dog house. Our ducks have 3 nesting boxes, and a pool. Our chickens have a room built into their coop that has 9 nesting boxes, and 5 perches inside. Then rooster #2 has a wooden house, along with two perches.
We usually have the leghorn roo with our girls. BUT this weekend our dogs killed a lot of our flock,
along with leaving us with only one turkey
. So we now only have 3 hens that are 10 months old, the other pullets are all under 4 months.
My questions are
1. Can I leave our roos in their own coops with all the females in the middle coop? Or do I have to house them with some females?
2. If I give them females then will I essentially have 2 flocks?
3. Can my roosters stay in their coops or do I have to let them to free range with the girls?
4. Are these housing quarters sufficient you think?
5. If I leave them in their own coops then do you give the girls congical visits? lol
My Polish roo can't free range because he kills my ducks. My leghorn roo likes to try and breed my ducks, BUT he has started getting into my polish's coop and attacked him the other day almost killing him! So his wings got clipped, he's a little
!
Also to keep in mind our flock free ranges, and the only time they are in their coops are at night. Now soon we have to move the one roo, so he will have to go back with his girls. He is good the ALL the babies, actually both our roos are. We are getting our kids, and they go in the the one coop on the left.
