I just called hubby and told him it's OFF WITH HER HEAD!!!!! Ironically her name is Crispy. Can' wait 'til she's fried and on my plate.
Her behavior has been awful. She should be off to freezer camp by the end of the weekend. The trio lays really well, but I don't want to start losing my eggs to them.
There you go. Last summer we participated in the Tyson program that they have for kids. We started butchering all the extra chckens becsue they get too big to lay eggs. By the time we got to the last one she was terrified. So we left her alone. We didn't do all the butchering in one day but she knew when we where at it again bcuase they all hung out together and stayed away form the other hens. They are tamer than the other ones. anyway. I didn't have the heart to kill her then the other hens did it for us. Shehad goten so big she couldn't carry her own weight and chickens being chickens tried to eat her alive. We had to kill her becuse she was so big and because they had done so much damage she was suffering. I was so mad at the other hens they got no treats for months.
Yup! A friend suggested that after our pecking issue. In the summer they eat bugs and get protein from that. They don't get that in the winter, so I've started giving them meat scraps in place of the bugs.
