I have a broody!!!!

Along the same lines, my babies have been with their mom for a few days, and my concern is if the babies will try to eat BOSS and choke, or eat layer feed, or if the other birds will eat all the medicated starter. How does this all work out for healthy chicks and mom?

I haven't ever had one choke on a too big treat, they seem to know what they can handle. The feed issue can be a pain, it's all but impossible to keep it all seperate. I feed everybody gamebird feed (flockraiser is good to, but for a long time I couldn't get it and am happy with the gamebird) and put oyster shell on the side for the laying hens. I don't feed medicated feed to any of my broody raised chicks and the ones I brood only get it until I move them out of the brooder. I do keep Corid on hand in case I have a cocci outbreak, but haven't had to use it on any chicks yet.

I also feed flock Raiser, with the egg shells separate for calcium.
for my chicks I mix my own food and it is fine for the hens so it is not a problem.

I got the chicks! they sold out of Delawares so I got 2 partridge rocks and I will put them under her tonight! I can't wait to take mommy pictures.

I put the 2 chicks under her and she is accepting them!!

I will go out and take a picture in a few minutes.

I tried to take pictures but they were hiding, I will try again in the morning and see how she takes to them.

Well it didn't work, the chicks spent the night buried in the hay bedding just out of her reach.

Any ideas?

the chicks are a few days old, and I did wait until after dark.

I ended up selling the chicks, and I will try to break her of being broody
