my name is mike ...... and my chickens beat up my dog.

it's not a small dog either, it is a good sized boxer.

my dog escaped with a bloody nose.

.... thought you guys would enjoy a story about the tides being turned

It happens. My golden lab got nosy with the chickens yesterday, just looking at them, and two roosters and a hen went after her. She got well out of the way before they inflicted any actual damage.

Whew. Thought I was the only one...lol

Had to rehome our broody after she whooped the tar out of our lab.
Poor dog wouldnt guard the other chickens cause she was afraid of 'mean mama' as the kids started calling her.

i was originally afraid that the dogs would kill the chickens ... we have had them penned up since we got the chickens 4 months ago --- seemed at first our fears were well founded since the boxer kept trying to break in during the first week

started letting the chickens out for an hour or two a day over the weekend

the dogs got a little nosey and the hens started pecking them whenever they got too close

I too must confess that my girls bully my two dogs but they are small dogs. They refuse to go down to the coop when the girls are out, and I was so afraid they would hurt my girls. LOL The girls will surround them and peck at them. too cute..

I have a st. bernard/boxer mix... she always wants to go in the coop, and happily trots right in. Then stands in the corner with her head down and just takes the abuse!!! they peck her tongue, jump on her back, peck her ears. Still, every time she has an opportunity, in she goes again!!!!

I WISH my chickens would peck a nose! I make my dogs stay inside when I'm free ranging my girls...and guys, they're weiner schnappers and have killed ducks so I just don't trust the vicious litlte heatherns. I've often thought about getting a goose just so it would show them that feathers aren't to be contended with.

I wish my chickens would whoop them and good.
