EE is short for easter egger. Not really rare. They are the offspring of any chicken with the blue egg gene and any other breed

no, not rare at all... hatchery's like to rip you off any way possible.

The EE was rare like 20 years ago, maybe. I think it is one of the most common breeds available today, you can get them for under $3.

I’ll write the Murray McMurray hatchery and ask them about it. Was not supposed to get ‘common’ breeds. They did all cost about 3.00 each. Maybe we got the breed wrong?
I’ll let you know. I don’t think they set out to rip anyone off. Seem like good chicken folks like us.

The problem is what's the definition of rare?
One man's rare is another man's common.
For hatcheries rare usually just means popular enough or in demand enough to be able to charge a little more then their egg laying breeds.

Well here is the description from the Hatchery. I’ll post the response to receiving EE/mixed breed in the assortment. I did catalog/receive turkens, hamburgs, polish,Wyandotte, creceover, cream Legbar and Andalusian. 3 Roos so far identified.

“This Special will include at least 6 different purebred varieties from this list in an order of 25 chicks and in larger orders there will be even more: W. C. Black Polish, Blue Andalusians, Silver Spangled Hamburgs, Dark Cornish, Speckled Sussex, Light Brahmas, Red Leghorns, Mottled Houdans, Partridge Rocks, Silver Laced and Columbian Wyandottes, Turkens and some of the 35 varieties from the Rarest of Rare list.”

Welp it’s not usual for them to ship EE in the assortment so they are identifying my chickens.
