I cured my roo of messing with me by being the aggressor whenever I saw him. When I went outside to let them out I would walk towards him and make him move out of my way sort of chasing him around the yard for a few minutes (not really chasing him but making him move away from me). I also would not let him mate any of the girls when I was outside. Sometimes when I threw scratch out for them, I wouldn't let him eat for a while. That seemed to establish me over him in the pecking order. Now occasionally he would try to mess with my husband, but he never did with me! I finally culled him because he was being too rough to one of my hens and was tearing the hide off her back. Then one of my RIR hens started acting like she was the 'head chick' on the place and would bow up at me if I went close to her, either in the yard or the coop. We butted heads for about 3 weeks before I finally convinced her she wasn't 'all that'! Now she squats for me! Finally, the little heifer scratched, pecked and bruised my hand and arm multiple times before I cured her. Good thing she lays pretty dark brown eggs or I would have had to make dumplings out of her!
