I have a devil rooster! Help please.

If it's warm out your way, take a "super soaker water gun" out with you and give him a good blast. I think that would take the starch out of him. Of course he would notice the times you don't have it with you.

I put up a post a couple days ago..asking how to manage a rooster, because I want one for my flock
But then..ya did it..iam scared again

If you're replacing him soon then you won't have to deal with it for much longer, soooo, I would cage him up until he is replaced. Being caged up may calm him down too.

I hope no one reading this is really scared of a chicken. It is 6-12 pounds and really short. You are 100-300 pounds and a whole hell of a lot taller. Really, who should be scared? Not the human! I had roosters come at me before I ever knew what I was supposed to do about it and I drop kicked them out of the ball park. If they really scare you it isn't the rooster that needs the plastic balls.

The elders in my poultry club recommend using a hot potato to remove spurs. You take a hot potato and spear it onto the spur and leave it there for approximately 5 minutes (while holding the rooster, of course). When you remove the potato, the spurs come with it. It supposedly is a fairly painless process, though I have never done it and I am not a rooster. Spurs are often removed for chicken exhibiting.

My own "orneries" get sold to the farm hands. I have bred a few before they turned mean, but I breed for temperament as much as anything else....

Ok, I am not that scared of him. I am just worried about visitors. Also, he does not have big spurs like smaller than a centimeter long. I am not going to cook him just to get that cleared.

Now since you all know that do you have any more ideas?
