Is this anything to worry about? It was left over in the egg, unattached to the duckling.. I'm hoping it's just gooey sticky poop..?

Thanks! I thought it might have hatched too fast and it might have been the yolk (though today is hatch day).. its drying atm, and attempting to clamber on the other eggs

il take more pics when its all fluffed up

Baby is still 'finding his feet' which is cute and funny, as it topples a lot! It's been rolling a couple of the eggs.. it seems to be targeting the ones with the pips.. but it seems to be encouraging them to hatch faster

It hasn't fluffed up much, only its belly and tail, but i reckon thats because the humidity is still high for the other eggs.. Its midnight where I am, and my brooder won't be ready til morning, as I need to pick up a new heat lamp, which is a bit of a pain, but it can stay in the bator til then right?

Also, I don't get the whole, don't open the incubator until they've all hatched thing? cos i've had to open mine a couple of times (mainly to stop the duck from trying to eat the cup cake cases) and the humidity drops by about 5% and then rises again after about 5 mins if that... meh.. I've still been trying not to touch it just in case.

It's official though.. I LOVE DUCKS! I mean chicks are great, but I think I'm a duck lover at heart
