So when my first hatched, within an hour or so, he jumped ship over the divider I had made, so I had to go in - he was dry by then so it was good timing. Anyway, I agree we should keep the hatching environment consistent, but alas nature is not consistent, nor a barn with a sitting hen, with other animals, varying outdoor/indoor temps through night/day and humidity. The hen is not setting up pans of water either or hanging thermometers. Best to leave all alone, but the few seconds we're in and out I can't imagine is anything different than a barn atmosphere.
