I had a fellow employee tell me today that he had bought 6 easter chicks and 6 easter ducklings for his kids and as soon as they were to big to keep he was giving them to me so his kids could come visit them during the summer! He was put out when I told him thanks but no thanks. He didn't understand. I had ducks and chicken why didn't I want these?! I asked him a few questions to confirm my suspicions. I told him they were probably all males, roosters and drakes, which I didn't want any more of. He got pretty huffy with me so I said if he gave them to me the only place I had room for them was my freezer.

Later his wife called me very upset. He had told her I had agreed to take them before she had agreed to buy them. She already wanted to get rid of them after 3 days and was doubly upset when I told her I'd never been asked about them before today. We talked and I explained my situation to her, she understood.

Not sure what they are going to do, I gave her a few options, made sure she understood about maturing roosters. My freezer will probably see some of them eventually.

I hear you..why do people thnk because we have something... we want more... if we did we'd get them ourselves. That was a very bad idea your friend had without even asking you first. I get people all the time trying to pawn off birds on me. I've been lucky and not gotten any drop offs!!!

This is how I got my Pomeranian. A friend of a friend had adopted him from a special-needs-pets no-kill shelter, then decided she didn't want him. My friend caught me and asked me to take him in until they could find him a home. My DH had a "no pets in the house rule", so it was supposed to be very temporary. a year later, RedRed is a part of my family and nobody is getting him from me. DH even lets him sleep on the bed.

Please excuse the bad haircut. I am a seamstress, not a dog groomer.

I'm a sucker. I would try like the dickens though to re-home them or else Dh would re-home me!!!

I get cats dropped off all the time here. We just let them join our tons of barn cats strolling around. But what really got me one day is a co-worker asked me to take a pig. But i wasnt allowed to slaughter it cuz it was a pet that got to big. I have chickens and live on my in-laws sheep farm. No where for a pig and he got pushy. Even as far as to say i could keep him in the house. Some people dont get it lol

Does he think that you Are related to Mr. Ziffel? And was his pig's name "Arnold"?

Lol cant say i even asked for the name. Just told him (but kinda nice cuz he is also my 'boss') that if i cant make him into bacon then no way. Expecially since we was saying it weighed a cpl hundred lbs

It’s just terrible when people do that. Last year somebody released a Pit Bull at Christmas on our property. Greatest dog ever but I simply could not keep it due to time constraints. The poor thing was shaking from the cold (after all, we had 4ft of snow!) so I nursed her back to health and gave her to a friend of mine who already had one pit bull. Now I have a “friend” ask if we can take his cat even though we already have 4 barn cats. I asked him if it was fixed and he said “No, why?”. People…
